ABOUT THE ARCHDIOCESE OF ANCHORAGE-JUNEAU

The Archdiocese of Anchorage-Juneau is a mission diocese that encompasses one of the most beautiful regions of the world, full of stunning scenery, plentiful wildlife, and diverse cultures. The Archdiocese has 48 different parishes spread from Ketchikan to King Salmon, along with 5 Catholic schools.

The Archdiocese is home to a melting pot of cultures that come together as a community of Catholics to help each other through the long, harsh winters and beautiful summers with the midnight sun.

The Chancery Building located at 225 Cordova St., in downtown Anchorage, serves as the headquarters for the Archdiocesan-wide ministries of Finance, Stewardship, Communications, Facilities, Safe Environment, and the Archives. A secondary Chancery Building is in Juneau, the state capital.

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for the oversight and support of all Archdiocesan accounting including parishes and institutions throughout the Archdiocese of Anchorage-Juneau.

This position oversees and monitors all financial and related functions of the Archdiocese of Anchorage-Juneau including budgeting, accounting, investments, payroll, and contracted benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in making recommendations pertaining to major financial decisions and questions facing the Archdiocese, its parishes, and other affiliated entities.
  • Implement and evaluate financial policies and practices of the Archdiocese to ensure that financial goals and objectives are met in accordance with canon law, policies established by the archbishop, and government regulations.
  • Make recommendations to the Archbishop as to available resources and financial limitations; periodically review the budget status with the Archdiocesan Finance Council.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • REQUIRED: BS in business, accounting, and/or other financial fields from an accredited college.
  • PREFERRED: MBA and/or CPA along with a working familiarity with nonprofit organizations and knowledge/willingness to learn the Catholic Church’s Code of Canon Law.
  • Five years of demonstrated successful experience working in accounting/finance, with two years supervisory responsibility.
  • Practicing Catholic Preferred.
  • Starting Salary: $110,000.00 (DOE).
