Due to an impending retirement, The Catholic Archdiocese of Hartford is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead the financial administration of its 131 parishes, schools, offices, and affiliated corporations throughout the Archdiocese of Hartford.

The Chief Financial Officer will direct, formalize, and enhance financial services and policies for the Archdiocese of Hartford, including, but not limited to; budgeting, payroll, accounting, audit, internal reviews, cash management, financial technology, financial advisory services, and basic internal controls.

JOB DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will be responsible for directing the accounting and financial process and provide financial management oversight and support to the parishes, schools, offices, and affiliated corporations throughout the Archdiocese. Additionally, this position serves the Church and its related entities with expertise in financial affairs, including accounting and data systems, administrative support, operational efficiency, real estate matters, tax issues, and financial analysis of the financial condition of parishes and operational controls related to parish entity.

QUALIFICATIONS

A BS Degree in Accounting or Finance is required; a MS Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred. CPA Certification is required as well as a background in Public Accounting. Qualified candidates must possess a minimum of six years of experience as a CFO in a large financial corporation with fifteen or more years of total accounting for finance experience. And an outstanding knowledge and understanding of GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance, and SEC reporting. Qualified candidates must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church, as attested by the individual’s pastor.
