The Diocese of Madison seeks a Chief Finance Officer

Position Summary

The Diocese of Madison seeks an individual to assume a leadership role in the financial management of the Diocese as its Chief Financial Officer. This individual advises the Bishop in the administration and stewardship of the temporal goods of the Diocese, developing and implementing financial policies and procedures in accord with both Church and civil law, in cooperation with the Diocesan Finance Council. The Diocese of Madison consists of 102 parishes in 11 counties in southern Wisconsin.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Chief Finance Officer will administer the overall accounting process, implement financial procedures to improve and maintain the financial health of the Diocese, and provide leadership in financial decision making that affects the Diocese. This person will also serve as a resource to parishes, schools, and institutions within the diocese in financial matters while evaluating and ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations and advancing sound policies and practices regarding fiscal management.  This person should have experience in the areas of financial reporting, treasury management, audit, risk management and investments.   Additional helpful areas of experience include: construction and real estate, clergy retirement plans, and contract and labor law.

Qualifications:

The selected person will be a faithful practicing Catholic who adheres to the teachings and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church. A CPA Certification or a Masters of Business (MBA) is preferred. This individual will have a minimum of eight (8) years supervisory experience and be able to demonstrate a successful progression in a leadership. The Diocese prefers a person who is familiar with the religious not-for-profit area in accounting and finance and who has a general knowledge of Canon Law related to temporal goods.
