Matt is the President and founder of Datastory Consulting in Baltimore, Maryland where he helps business leaders make data-driven decisions by applying geographic information systems (or “GIS”) in new and meaningful ways.
For the past 24 years, his work has been focused on helping decision-makers apply a location-based approach to strategic and tactical decisions in business, nonprofits, and government organizations. Matt is a creative story-revealer and story-teller who transforms data into interactive maps that inform and empower great decisions.
Matt is an active presenter and contributor to industry publications and has been recognized nationally by Esri (the world leader in GIS) for his team’s practical and innovative use of GIS technology. He is a Certified GIS Professional (GISP) with a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and Economics from Towson University (1996) and a Master's degree in Information and Telecommunications Systems from Johns Hopkins University (2003).
Matt and his wife recently celebrated their 22-year anniversary and live in Bel Air, Maryland with their two daughters. Matt enjoys cooking, gardening, and incorporating maps into most everything he does.
